I am surprised there are not more of these amplifiers around. They were used by the UK Fire Service for many years providing a solid and dependable 100 watts of RF output at locations all over the UK. Robust professional construction by the Kathrein company, these units originally cost around £5000 each and are designed to run continuously, 365 days of the year at 100 watts out. The fire service operated in the VHF Low-Band region between 70.5 - 72MHz.
The objective is to modify this amplifier for 70MHz SSB operation providing full legal limit power with total reliability.
